You must be at least 17 years old to use Bibliofolk. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are 17 or older. If you are between 17 and 18 years old, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
You must be a human individual. Accounts created by bots, scripts, or automated methods are not permitted. You may only create one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent suspensions or restrictions is a violation of these Terms.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your password or allow others to access your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account, including your date of birth. Providing false information — including misrepresenting your age — is grounds for immediate account termination.
If you believe your account has been compromised, notify us immediately at [email protected].
Bibliofolk is a reader matching service that connects users based on their reading histories and tastes. The Service includes:
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
You agree to use Bibliofolk only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms and our Community Guidelines. You agree not to:
"User Content" means any content you submit to the Service, including your reading shelf, messages to Shelfmates, display name, bio, and any ratings or reports you submit.
You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting User Content to the Service, you grant Heddle LLC a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, and transmit your User Content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service.
You represent and warrant that: (a) you own or have the right to submit your User Content; (b) your User Content does not violate any third-party rights; and (c) your User Content does not violate any applicable law.
We do not pre-screen User Content but reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines at our sole discretion.
Bibliofolk is free to download and use with a limited feature set. Free users receive one automated match per week, a limited number of bookmarks, and full access to the core reading shelf and chat features.
Bibliofolk Premium is available as an auto-renewing subscription at the price displayed in the App Store at the time of purchase. Premium subscribers receive additional features including on-demand rematching, increased bookmark allocation, and priority matching.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account upon confirmation of purchase and at the start of each renewal period.
You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time through iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Bibliofolk. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to premium features until then.
Bookmarks are a virtual currency used within Bibliofolk to unlock certain features. Bookmarks are not real currency, have no monetary value, and cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged for cash. Bookmarks are non-refundable. We reserve the right to modify the bookmark system, including refill rates and costs, at any time.
All purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's refund policies. We do not control Apple's refund process. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
We may change the price of Bibliofolk Premium at any time. We will provide reasonable advance notice of price changes. Your continued use of the subscription after a price change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the new price.
The Bibliofolk matching algorithm is designed to connect users with compatible reading tastes. We do not guarantee match quality, match frequency, or that any match will result in a conversation. Match results are determined algorithmically based on your shelf data, discussion preferences, and activity.
Matches have a 7-day active window. After expiry, a bookmark may be spent to unlock a past match's conversation for an additional 7 days. We reserve the right to modify match windows, expiry behavior, and bookmark costs at any time.
Bibliofolk is a platform for connecting readers, not a dating service. Use of the Service for romantic solicitation, sexual content, or any purpose inconsistent with literary discussion is a violation of these Terms.
You can report another user at any time using the report function within the app. Reports are reviewed by Heddle LLC. We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.
You can block another user to prevent future matching. Blocked users cannot be matched with you again and cannot send you messages.
We are not responsible for the conduct of users on the Service. You use Bibliofolk and interact with other users at your own risk.
The Bibliofolk application, its design, code, name, logo, and all content created by Heddle LLC (excluding User Content and third-party book data) are the intellectual property of Heddle LLC and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of any Heddle LLC intellectual property without our express written consent.
Book metadata, cover images, and descriptions sourced from Open Library and Google Books remain the property of their respective owners and are used in accordance with their respective licenses and APIs.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR USEFULNESS OF ANY CONTENT ON THE SERVICE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, HEDDLE LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL HEDDLE LLC'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO HEDDLE LLC IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Heddle LLC and its members, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your access to or use of the Service; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any rights of any third party.
You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete Account within the app. Upon deletion, your data will be removed within 30 days as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms, Community Guidelines, or for any other reason at our sole discretion. If your account is terminated for cause, you will not be entitled to any refund of unused subscription time or bookmarks.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including Sections 9, 10, 11, 12, and 15.
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms at this URL and updating the "Last updated" date, and may also notify you via push notification or email. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated Terms constitutes your acceptance. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
You agree that any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service must be filed within one year of the date the claim arose, or it will be permanently barred.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and Heddle LLC regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms will not be deemed a waiver of that provision.
Assignment. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.
